Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

These terms govern your use of Steelstake, a mineral licence tracking and monitoring service. By creating an account, you agree to the terms below.

1. What Steelstake is

Steelstake aggregates public mineral licence, claim, and gazette records from provincial government sources and presents them in a searchable map, alongside a lapse-risk score we calculate ourselves and an optional email digest of changes to whatever you've asked us to watch.

2. Pricing - free today, may change with notice

Steelstake is currently offered free of charge. We may introduce pricing, or change it, at any point in the future. If we do, we'll give existing accounts at least 30 days' advance notice before any change takes effect on that account. We won't charge you retroactively for a period you used the service for free.

3. Accuracy of information - not professional advice

Licence, claim, gazette, and lapse-risk information on Steelstake is aggregated from public government sources and computed by our own scoring model. It's provided as an informational aid to help you track and prioritize, not as professional, legal, or financial advice. Government records can lag, change, or contain errors outside our control, and our lapse-risk score is an estimate, not a guarantee of any licence's actual status. Always independently verify directly with the relevant provincial authority before making a staking decision, a business decision, or relying on this information for anything with real financial consequences.

4. Your account

You're responsible for the accuracy of the name and email you provide, and for anything that happens through your account. Access is passwordless - we email you a one-time code instead. Keep access to your email account secure, since that's what protects your Steelstake account too. You can log out, update your details, or stop receiving emails at any time from within the product.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Steelstake to scrape, resell, or redistribute our data at scale, attempt to circumvent account limits, or interfere with the service's normal operation. We may suspend or terminate an account that does.

6. No warranty, limitation of liability

Steelstake is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Steelstake and its operator aren't liable for any losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including decisions made based on information it provides.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to accounts by email with reasonable advance notice.
